ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Just 16 months after being hired as the head coach of New Mexico United, Eric Quill has landed a new head coaching gig. On Wednesday, Quill was appointed as the head coach of MLS club FC Dallas.
During his tenue with United, Quill led New Mexico to consecutive postseason berths. In his fist and only full season with the club, Quill and United set a club record in wins and points. New Mexico finished the regular season as the top seed in the USLC western conference and won its opening round postseason match.
"Coaching New Mexico United has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career," Quill said. "The passion of the fans, the commitment of the players, and the support of the organization made this a special chapter in my life... [I am] confident that New Mexico United will be a future champion, and when they are, I will celebrate like no other."
"In his two seasons with the club, Eric led us to a new level of success on the field,” said New Mexico United owner Peter Trevisani. “More importantly, Eric brought a winning mentality and mindset to our organization. His impact on our organization, fans, and the community that he embraced as his own will always be a part of our club."
Quill had previously signed a two-year extension with New Mexico in August. FC Dallas and New Mexico United have agreed to a buyout of the contract.
New Mexico United has now begun the search for selecting a new head coach ahead of the 2025 season.
