Cooler, drier air moves into Southeast Louisiana
Nov 20, 2024
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Southeast Louisiana is finally feeling the arrival of cooler, drier fall weather.
A cold front moving through the region is bringing relief from the muggy conditions that have lingered. Behind the front, temperatures are dropping, and humidity levels are noticeably lower, offering a refreshing change.
As the front moves through, north winds around 15 mph are making it breezy, with gusts even stronger over coastal waters. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for those on the water. Tonight, temperatures will dip into the upper 30s in inland parts of the Northshore and the mid-40s across the rest of the region.
Clear skies and dry conditions are expected to continue through the weekend. Saturday night will be the coldest, with lows in the mid-30s to low-40s.
By next week, temperatures will start to rebound as winds shift, bringing in moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Overnight lows will climb back to around 60 by midweek, and rain chances will increase as moisture returns.
