HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) gave an update on police shootings at a Police Commission meeting today, revealing that there have been seven police shooting incidents so far this year, four of which were fatal. Carrie Okinaga, a member of the Honolulu Police Commission, expressed frustration over the standard response of "under investigation" when details are sought. "Is there anything that can be disclosed along the way to help the public understand?" Lieutenant Brandon Nakasone of HPD responded, explaining that initial information shared with the public is typically based on what is known at the time. "As the investigation unfolds, things might develop, but in most cases, it’s pretty much what we’re given at the outset," Nakasone said.
