HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) -- The wife of a man who was shot and killed in High Point says her husband died in her arms. During a traumatic moment, Samantha Vogel asked a dire question. "I asked, 'Where did you shoot him, so, I can try to stop the bleeding?' And he looked at me and said, 'Your husband's dead. There's no saving him,'" Vogel said. That's what Vogel asked a suspect who allegedly killed her husband Cameron Fox. Vogel says they have been married for a little over three months. "He was ... giving and full of light and life. He could light a room. It doesn't matter if you are upset or angry. Cameron could put a smile on your face and make it better," Vogel said. Vogel says her husband would DoorDash to help make ends meet. On Monday night, Vogel says she tagged along with Fox while he delivered food at an apartment complex on Lakecrest Avenue in High Point. She says during a delivery, a man she and her husband didn't recognize approached them. According to investigators, Fox and the suspect got into an argument, and Vogel's husband was fatally shot. "I laid there beside him ... I was trying and talking to him ... Those last moments. I believe in God, and your life flashes before your eyes. I wanted him to know he's not alone. He's never going to die alone," Vogel said. High Point police arrested 38-year-old Robert Bailey in connection to the crime. He's charged with second-degree murder. Three days later, Vogel is still processing what she witnessed. "None of this should've happened. None of this was necessary," Vogel said. While the pain of losing the love of her life is unbearable, Vogel says she's praying for the suspect. "Whatever he was going through that led him to kill my husband, I hope God saves him ... Despite the pain in my heart, I hope the man has peace ... All I want for my husband is justice." Right now, Bailey is being held with no bond, and the homicide remains under investigation. A GoFundMe has been set up.
