MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD)—A Moncks Corner officer was honored Tuesday night for his heroic actions in October when he helped save a child.
Police Chief Steve Young presented Corporal Logan A. Armbruster with the Meritorious Award at a Moncks Corner Town Council meeting. On Oct. 24, Cpl. Armbruster was directing traffic at Foxbank Elementary School when a frantic mother approached him.
Cpl. Armbruster learned the mother had a child in the backseat of her car who was not breathing. He then rushed to the vehicle, pulled the child from its seat, and administered the Heimlich maneuver.
Medical help soon arrived, and the child was treated.
"Corporal Armbruster's deeds illustrate the significant difference that one dedicated officer can make in the lives of those in our community," the town of Moncks Corner wrote in a post to social media. "This award stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our community and reflects the highest standards of the Moncks Corner Police Department."
