MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Frigid temps across the state may have you thinking about a bowl of warm soup. That's what hospitality leaders in Minot had on their minds when they recently organized a fun competition. Staffers from Visit Minot reached out to a handful of local eateries, inviting them to cook up a batch of knoephla soup for judges to sample and score. Stay healthy with supplements and lifestyle changes The judges tasted soups from Charlie's Cafe, Kroll's Diner, Schatz Crossroads, Jamaican Vybz Kitchen, and Homesteaders. "Some of these recipes have been at these restaurants for over 40 years, perfected and just loved on. One of them, the winner was her mother's recipe that she tweaked. So, these are long-standing recipes and traditions for these folks who made them at these restaurants, and it's just such a stick-to-your-ribs delicious soup that is our state soup," Visit Minot Marketing Director Eden Jackson-Jones said. Judges had a tie in the first round, but then voted Jamaican Vybz as the winner, with Schatz Crossroads' soup finishing second. Jackson-Jones says the restaurants will be promoted on Visit Minot's website and social media pages. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
