WASHINGTON (DC News Now) --The Emergency Rental Program (ERAP) portal opened for D.C. residents on Wednesday. Here are some things you should know when you go into the portal: The portal is moving from quarterly to continuously available: Officials with the Department of Human Services (DHS) said the ERAP portal will be open until they receive the number of applicants they project can be supported. Previously, the DHS would spread out applications by opening the portals quarterly. You will be redirected to the application once there's less traffic on the portal. Here's what you need in order to submit an application: Proof of residency (lease, letter from landlord) Photo ID Proof of Income for the last 30 days Proof of resources or benefits (bank statement from the last 30 days for all accounts, SNAP) Proof of Emergency (job loss, income loss related to "certain pandemics," lost or reduced employment, increased expenses or reduced income due to change in household composition) Click here to learn more about program eligibility and required documentation.
