FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Fresno's new jail in Downtown Fresno is coming next month, and the Fresno County Sheriff's Office announced what is coming in the new facility.
County officials announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility, the County of Fresno West Annex Jail, on Dec. 3 at 1 p.m.
The facility is described by officials as the county's "most versatile custody facility, designed for enhanced mental health care, cutting-edge incarcerated person programming, and advanced security features."
According to officials, those features include:
300 beds
Mental Health Focus (JBCT)
14 classrooms
Laundry facilities
Medical clinics on the housing floors
Enhanced Officer Safety features
Training area
Briefing room
Video visitation
Observation and safety cells
The new jail will be on the corner of L and Merced streets in Downtown Fresno.
