IDENTIFIED: Madera woman killed in Bakersfield hitandrun

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Officials with the Kern County Coroner's Office identified a Madera woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 99 on Sunday.
The woman was identified as Irma Pacheco Matias, 50, of Madera.
Officials say Matias was struck by a vehicle on northbound Highway 99 just south of Houghton Road just after 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Matias died at the scene due to her injuries, according to the coroner's office.
Officials with the California Highway Patrol say officers were dispatched to the area for a crash involving two pedestrians. Prior to officer's arrival the alleged vehicle involved fled.
The vehicle is described as a gray colored Ford compact vehicle.
Investigation showed two pedestrians, a 50-year-old woman who was identified as Matias, and her 46-year-old husband were walking across lanes on Highway 99 in front of the path of the Ford.
The driver then struck Matias and her husband, according to CHP.
Matias was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband was taken to Kern Medical with major injuries, according to CHP.
