Albuquerque man sentenced for carjacking incident

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Jimmy Martinez, who took a plea deal in October for armed robbery, attempted aggravated assault and other charges was sentenced to eight years behind bars.

In March 2024 Albuquerque police officers were trying trying to pull over a vehicle near Eubank and Candelaria when it crashed into another car. A criminal complaint says three people ran from the vehicle, including Martinez. According to police, Martinez then used a gun to carjack another vehicle. Judge Jennifer Wernersbach sentenced Martinez to eight years behind bars.
