Road issues near Manitou Springs? Who should you contact?
Nov 20, 2024
(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — On Wednesday, Nov. 20, the City of Manitou Springs offered resources to drivers in the area who experience road or traffic issues and need to know who to contact.
The major east-west artery through the Manitou Springs area is Highway 24, and although it hugs right up next to the city, the highway is not owned or managed by Manitou Springs. It is instead managed by the State of Colorado, and contacting the city's Public Works Department can slow response time.
Manitou Springs encourages drivers encountering road or traffic incidents to submit questions directly to the Colorado Department of Transportation's (CDOT) official contact page. Customers will receive a tracking number for their request, allowing CDOT to provide direct follow-ups and prompt resolutions. This also ensures that CDOT receives all necessary details upfront, reducing delays.
For those who prefer to call CDOT, the department's customer service hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the regional contact number for issues around Manitou Springs is (719) 562-5568.
If an emergency occurs on the highway, outside of business hours, the City of Manitou Springs said at that time it is appropriate to dial 911 or contact local law enforcement. Law enforcement can then coordinate directly with CDOT's dispatch team to ensure the most efficient response.
Locals who encounter road issues for city-owned roads should continue to report to the City of Manitou Springs' Public Works Department, linked above.
