New Orleans Saints buying into interim head coach Darren Rizzi's message

METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Saints have won two straight games and the team has bought into interim head coach Darren Rizzi.
The Saints could have thrown in the towel after losing seven straight and head coach Dennis Allen getting fired. Instead, Rizzi has gotten some of the best football out of the Saints. The main message the team has rallied around is Rizzi's mantra of 1-11.
It's something he's been using during his tenure as special teams coordinator, every individual has to do their job in order for the whole team to succeed. Rizzi has also gone to great lengths to get his messages across in team meetings, like finishing.
"This past week, he used something, a leveler," said Saints safety Ugo Amadi. "When you finish a job, you use it to make sure it's even. Having that level out there for us was like big, a good like visual evidence of like, alright this is what it looks like when you win a game. It's going to be leveled out."

"First team meeting that we had when I took over, I had an analogy about. We kind of dug a hole for ourselves through that seven-game stretch," Rizzi said. "And now, we all had a hand in it and now we're all going to have a hand in kind of filling it up. So, I used a shovel kind of as a visual. Kind of took on a life of its own. The next day I came there with another prop and then another prop. So, I had the hard hat and then I had the construction vest and then I had the lunch pail. Every day we've been adding one and they're kind of symbolic."
