BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A CIF Central Section football champion will be crowned in Bakersfield on Friday. Bakersfield hosts Frontier in the Division I-A championship game. The Drillers survived its semifinal game against Arroyo Grande with a last-second field goal to win 24-21. The last time the two schools faced off in the playoffs was in 2021. Frontier is coming off a 21-14 win over Centennial in its semifinal and are 7-1 since starting the season 1-3. Several other schools are looking to win their semifinal matchups for a chance at a title next week. Bakersfield Christian and Shafter host their games. Kennedy faces Madera and Mira Monte is looking to continue its magical run but faces top-seeded Minarets in Division VI. Delano hosts its semifinal against Selma.
