Woman charged with murder in the 1st degree after deadly Topeka house fire

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Shawnee County District Attorney filed charges Tuesday against a local woman accused of killing a Topeka man in a house fire.
Court records show charges were filed against 31-year-old Terica M. Gardner on Nov. 19 in connection to a deadly house fire in October that claimed the life of 46-year-old David S. Blevens. Her charges include the following:
Murder in the first degree.
Aggravated arson.
Aggravated burglary.
Aggravated intimidation of a witness/victim.
Aggravated battery.
Criminal threat.
Domestic battery.
Criminal damage to property.
Topeka police identify victims of alleged murder-suicide
Police were called to a house fire on Sunday, Oct. 6 in the 1600 block of Southwest Buchanan Street after firefighters found a person, later identified as Blevens, dead. Investigators launched a homicide investigation shortly after the discovery. A witness of the fire later told 27 News about the chaotic scene.
Topeka police arrested Gardner on Nov. 14 in connection to the deadly fire on charges of murder in the first degree and aggravated arson. Blevens was identified as the victim of the fire on Nov. 12.
