ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) - Students at Enfield High School were dismissed early on Wednesday after a person was found to have a weapon in the building. Convicted murderer from Connecticut arrested in Springfield on gun charges At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the school received a report that a weapon might be in the building, the Enfield Police Department stated. The school was placed on lockdown and officers were able to identify the student in question. The student appeared to have a functional handgun in their possession, however, it had BB gun components and a BB gun magazine. No threats or injuries were reported and the 18-year-old student was taken into custody without incident. Students were released from school at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Extra counselors will be available for students and staff on Wednesday and Thursday if needed.
