Coroner ID's moped driver killed in Hollywood crash

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) - The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the moped driver killed after colliding with a vehicle in Hollywood.
James Gathers Murphy, 74, of Hollywood died Tuesday at approximately 10:08 a.m. on the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, the coroner reports.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 162 and Salters Hill Road in Hollywood.
According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, the moped and the vehicle were traveling west on Hwy 162 when they approached Salters Hill Rd. At the intersection, the moped driver started to turn left while the vehicle attempted to pass them, causing the collision.
EMS responded and began life-saving measures but Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
