Lago Vista woman sentenced to 5 years in tampering with evidence case after son's death

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- A Lago Vista woman was sentenced to serve five years in jail in a tampering with evidence case stemming from her son's death in 2023, according to Travis County court documents.
Veronica Soriano, 36, was convicted on Nov. 12 of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse, according to sentencing documents.

The charge stems from the March 2023 death of her son, who was 16 at the time, according to a Travis County affidavit.
Soriano was sentenced to serve five years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility. She has 198 days of jail credits, or a little over six months, that were applied to her sentence, according to the sentencing paperwork.
