PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The person believed to own Saje Kitchen on Federal Hill was arrested on Nov. 8 after police say he intervened in a stabbing.
According to information made public by the Rhode Island Court System, 42-year-old Andre Samuel was arrested on Nov. 8, and is charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Providence Board of Licenses Chair Dylan Conley told ABC 6 News that Samuel is only allowed at the restaurant as a patron and not as an owner, and said he found Samuel’s intervention in the violent incident, “atypical.”
“Mr. Samuel, as far as I’ve seen over the course the entirety of this license has been a manager and or an owner, he intervened in a knife fight, I think that’s atypical behavior for a patron,” Conley said. “Mr. Samuel has been associated with at least two other clubs that have had violent incidents that we’ve closed and I think we’ve established a pattern of behavior.”
Officials allege that Samuel punched one of the people involved in the stabbing.
Saje Kitchen was ordered closed pending a show-cause hearing set for Nov. 21.
Originally, the Providence Board of Licenses ordered Saje Kitchen on Federal Hill to close for 72 hours.
Samuel will be back in court of Nov. 25 to face the misdemeanor charge.
