ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Police have provided photographs of suspects and a suspect vehicle in the death of a US Navy Veteran who was shot during an armed robbery.
David Matthew Davis, 39, was shot and killed on Nov. 11 around 7 a.m. during what initially came into police as an armed robbery at 64 Skillz on East Dixie Drive in Asheboro. While police were on the way after reports of a robbery, they were told that a man had been shot. At the scene, they found Davis dead inside the business. Davis was an employee.
Police have now released pictures of two suspects who were seen on camera at the business, as well as a suspect vehicle, which has been entered into NCIC as stolen and "a felony vehicle."
The vehicle is a 2013 Toyota Avalon with a North Carolina license plate LAH-9992. However, the plate could have been changed. There is damage to both corners of the rear bumper and to the driver's side rear quarter panel.
"Anyone who locates this vehicle should use caution and contact law enforcement via 911," police say.
Police said after the robbery happened that a gaming business like this, which stays open late and deals with cash can be a target for a robbery.
Anyone who has any information about this case should call Asheboro police.
