MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -- A traffic stop in Miami County Saturday led to two people being arrested and each charged with multiple felonies, according to Indiana State Police (ISP). Around 9:41 p.m. Saturday, a state trooper conducted a traffic stop north of Peru. The driver was identified as 28-year-old Jennifer Lee Oblinger, and a passenger in the vehicle was identified as 28-year-old Ashley Nicole Beatty. A K-9 unit sniffed around the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics, which prompted ISP to search the vehicle and reportedly find suspected methamphetamine, syringes and a controlled substance. ISP also learned Beatty had an active felony arrest warrant out of Elkhart County. Oblinger and Beatty each face Level 6 felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a syringe, along with various misdemeanor charges. The suspected drugs found in the vehicle will be taken to the ISP Laboratory to officially determine what the substances are.
