The shooting attack on Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds and two of his companions was a “coordinated, organized assault,” prosecutors said Monday. The chief suspect in the case, Luis Mendoza, was denied a bail reduction after authorities argued that he was the main plotter of the attack on Reynolds and two other men on Oct. 18. Mendoza’s bail remains set at $300,000. Reynolds, 29, was leaving a strip club in the Denver suburb of Glendale with two other men around 2:45 a.m. when he was followed and shot at several times, cops said. Mendoza, 35, was inside the club at the same time as Reynolds and followed him out, according to police. He then directed the chase and allegedly opened fire on Reynolds’ vehicle. “This was a violent, vicious attack on the citizens of Denver County,” prosecutor Holly MacDonald said. “This was a coordinated, organized assault on three victims, largely with Mr. Mendoza being the one coordinating this attack.” Two other men have also been arrested in connection with the shooting. Burr Charlesworth, 42, was charged alongside Mendoza with attempted murder and assault. Dirk Lisica-Lange, 31, was arrested on Nov. 14 and charged with attempting to influence a public servant. The investigation remains ongoing. Police said Mendoza and others in at least three vehicles followed Reynolds and the two other victims, who were traveling in a Ford Bronco. Reynolds was shot in the left arm and in the back of his head, police said. He was already out with a finger injury at the time of the shooting and has not played in a game since Oct. 6.
