Santa Fe Animal Shelter collecting winter gear for unhoused people with pets

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Santa Fe Animal Shelter is partnering with Street Homeless Animal Project Inc. (SHAP) to collect supplies for unhoused individuals who have a furry companion.
Parkas for Pups runs through November 25 and is seeking high-quality winter items—such as large blankets and sweaters, jackets, harnesses, and boots.

Individuals can drop off the items at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, located at 100 Caja del Rio Road. “Animal organizations like ours working together can assure our community that we make a caring coalition of animal advocates helping animals both on the Street or in the Shelter," said Karen Cain, SHAP’s founder and executive director, in a news release.
