NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Fire Department was on the scene of a 3-alarm fire in the French Quarter Tuesday morning, Nov. 19. Around 2:44 a.m., firefighters were alerted of a fire at the corner of Bourbon and Orleans streets. New Orleans police investigating fatal Central City shooting Arriving at 2:49 a.m., firefighters witnessed smoke coming through the roof of a three-story wooden framed building. A second alarm was called at 3:02 a.m. after flames were spotted between the second and third floors and throughout the attic. NOFD officials said due to the fire being difficult to access, a third alarm was called for extra manpower to extinguish the flames. NOFD officials said the fire reportedly started in a crawl space on the second floor of a business which was closed at the time. (WGNO/Pat Thomas) In total, 20 NOFD units carrying 52 fire personnel were able to get the flame under control by 4:04 a.m. but firefighters continued to search for hotspots. Entergy officials were also on the scene and were able to cut power to the building. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
