Multiple E. coli infections, 1 death in California linked to organic carrots

An E. Coli outbreak linked to organic carrots has infected at least 39 people across 18 states, including in California.
The outbreak is connected to several brands of the carrots, which have been since recalled according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The carrots, according to the CDC, come from Bakersfield-based Grimmway Farms.

While the affected supply is no longer in stores, they may still be in homes. The affected brands are: 365, Bunny Luv, Cal-Organic, Compliments, Full Circle, Good & Gather, GreenWise, Grimmway Farms, Marketside, Nature's Promise, O-Organic, President's Choice, Raley's, Simple Truth, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Wegmans and Wholesome Pantry.
Recalled baby organic carrots have best-if-used-by dates ranging from 9/11/2024 to 11/12/2024. The recalled whole organic carrots were available for purchase in stores approximately from 8/14/2024 through 10/23/2024, and do not have "best-if-used-by" dates.
Of the 39 confirmed E. coli patients connected to this outbreak, three of them live in California, according to the CDC. There have been 15 hospitalizations and one death.
The death occurred in California, the CDC said.
According to the CDC, most people infected experience "severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), and vomiting." The symptoms usually start about three or four days after consumption.
