Nov 18, 2024
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A renowned medical practice located in the capital city for over 70 years reunited to celebrate its upcoming 100th anniversary.
Five panelists including: Doctors Walter Menninger, Dr. Marcell Bauman-Bork, David Parker, Ira Stamm, plus retired psychologist Jon Allen spoke on all things Menninger Clinic, and looked back on all the memories. Roy Menninger planned on being in attendance, but died in October, 2024.
Dr. Walt Menninger is a third-generation member of the family, accredited to changing modern psychiatry.
"For over a 100 years, this tremendous number of people that have been influenced and affected by the training programs as well as health by the clinical stage, it's very heartening," Menninger said. "I know that it continues not just in the memories, of just a bunch of older folks, but it's still going on and they are continuing to carry out the practice."
Over 100 years of tradition, with only one Kansas band getting to be apart of it
Walt mentioned his career was full of love, faith and humanity and has been privileged to be the last living symbol of an institution that affected the lives of many.
The formal anniversary is April 1, 2025 and will be celebrated this upcoming May, 2025 in Downtown Topeka.
