Resident shocked after another shooting at scene of 2021 murder

GARDEN CITY, Ga. (WSAV) — On Friday, a Chatham County jury found a man guilty of murder for a 2021 shooting death at a Garden City apartment complex.
Monday morning, shots rang out again in the same complex, just a few buildings over.
20-year-old Jamary Brown shot and killed 16-year-old Amarian Robinson almost three years ago at Chatham City Apartments, the Chatham County District Attorneys (DA) Office said.
For some residents, there's a strange sense of deja-vu.
According to one, "nothing like that has happened," in the complex since 2021.
Garden City Police Department (GCPD) said no one was injured or killed Monday morning, and the shooting happened around 3 A.M.
"I saw the first policeman come by," Bessie Edwards, who lives at Chatham City Apartments, said. "Then another one came by. I told my son; he was visiting me. I told him something's going on…I see some policemen going by, they're flashing their lights…I went to the mailbox, and someone told me they heard gunshots."
A similar scene likely unfolded on the night of Dec. 6, 2021, but that incident had a very different outcome. Police said that's the night Brown shot Robinson.
Some are now left trying to understand where the violence in their community is coming from.
"These young kids are getting their hands on guns too soon," Edwards said. "They're letting them get guns too soon. That's why there's a lot of killing going on. They're too young to even own a gun, but they're letting them go."
GCPD said Monday's shooting is still under investigation. As for Brown, the Chatham County District Attorney's Office said he will be sentenced at a later date.
