MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A woman is being charged with extortion after she allegedly stole a man's car and demanded nearly $500 to bring the car back. Michala Schurger, 45, was booked into the Shelby County Jail Monday and is being held on a $30,000 bond. Michala Schurger (SCSPO) The victim said he had only known Schurger for a couple of weeks when she drove his 2015 Audi A8L away from his home on October 12. Burglars leave behind $15k in damages at East Memphis store The victim said Schurger sent him a text message the same day asking him to pay her $80 hotel bill and another $375, and she would return the vehicle. According to police, the car theft was captured on video, and the victim was able to pick Schurger out of a photo lineup as the person who took his car. Schurger is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
