MUNCIE, Ind. — Indiana State Police arrested a man after a brief car chase on Saturday. According to a press release, a trooper tried to conduct a traffic stop with the driver of a white Chevrolet Malibu near Madison Avenue and 29th Street in Muncie around 1 a.m. The driver — later identified as 23-year-old Brian K. Long of Muncie — disregarded the trooper and tried to flee the scene. After a short police chase, Long was involved in a crash near the intersection of Madison Avenue and Walnut Street. None of the occupants in the car Long crashed into were injured during the incident. Troopers quickly apprehended Long at the crash scene. He was wearing a ski mask at the time of his arrest. Per ISP, investigators searched Long's car and found two firearms — an AK-style pistol and an AR-style pistol. Police also determined that Long was in possession of marijuana. Long has been preliminarily charged with the following offenses: Resisting law enforcement — Level 6 Felony Reckless driving — a Class A Misdemeanor Criminal recklessness — a Class B Misdemeanor Possession of marijuana — a Class B Misdemeanor Resisting law enforcement is the most serious charge Long faces. In Indiana, the maximum penalty for a Level 6 Felony like resisting law enforcement is a 2.5-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
