Northlake Mall is being sued. The new lawsuits claim the mall owner and the mall security company failed to protect customers.
The attorney representing two plaintiffs says there has a pattern of negligence at Northlake mall demonstrated by the more than 1,300 criminal incidents within a mile radius of the property over a five year span.
The lawsuits highlight Google reviews of Northlake citing ongoing security concerns.
In two separate suits, the attorney, Robert Jessup says an unknown shooter/John Doe unleashed a storm of bullets into a car with Armani Spencer and Bianca Brown inside on August 13th, 2022.
The lawsuit names Spinoso Real Estate Group and Professional Security Consultants among the defendants accused of failing to protect customers on their property.
Spencer was shot and killed on Perimeter Parkway between Northlake Mall and Northlake Commons. The lawsuit says Brown was also shot and called 911. The lawsuit claims the security company failed to respond before, during or even after the shooting.
In a 2023 interview with WCCB at a balloon release for her late son, Donna Spencer vowed to keep fighting for justice.
“The perpetrators are still out there. I’m going to continue on fighting. I’m going to continue on being that voice for Armani and I just I pray that someone comes forward,” Spencer said.
Attorney robert jessup filed both lawsuits on behalf of the victims and is asking for more than $25,000 in damages.
“The complaints speak for themselves, and at this time, we are not authorized to offer further comment on the specifics of these cases. However, we are deeply heartbroken for the losses suffered by our clients. Their unimaginable tragedies serve as stark reminders of the devastating consequences of unchecked violence in our communities. One of our clients’ primary goals in pursuing these cases is to advocate for meaningful change, striving to make the Northlake Mall area safer for everyone,” Jessup wrote in a statement to WCCB.
Jessup also filed a lawsuit on behalf of Jamielle Clements claiming that owners and security of Fox & Hound in Northlake Commons failed to protect Clements who was shot and killed at his job during an altercation on October 5th 2022.
