Chicago may see its first snowfall of the season overnight Wednesday and into Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.Showers are forecast in the city through Saturday, and after Tuesday’s high of around 60, temperatures are slated to drop, with highs in the mid to low 40s through the rest of the week. Low temperatures could drop to around 35 degrees Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night, with central Illinois getting even colder, though precipitation will move out of the area by Thursday evening. The rain could turn to snow Wednesday night, but will likely be gone by Friday night and won’t stick on the ground very long, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Jake Petr.“At this range, it looks like there’s a good chance of seeing snowflakes, but as for seeing accumulation, that’s where the uncertainty lies,” Petr told the Sun-Times on Monday. “That’s the big question mark.”The rain will continue as it did during the day Monday, with no single day set to get more than half an inch of rain in the city before it stops Thursday night, Petr said. Wind gusts of up to 40 mph could be expected Tuesday morning.
