Man shot twice in same week in Hagerstown; 2 arrested

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Hagerstown Police Department said officers arrested two people after a man was injured in two separate shootings last week.
In a post on Facebook on Friday, Nov. 15, the department said that at around 2:40 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of W. Franklin St. for a shooting.
When they arrived, they found a 26-year-old man from Hagerstown with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Medics took him to Meritus Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers on the scene quickly recognized the 26-year-old as the victim of a shooting that had taken place on Monday, Nov. 11. In this case, officers responded to the 100 block of W. Bethel St. at around 7:20 p.m. after hearing gunshots.
In regards to the Monday shooting, officers arrested Cameron Taylor Cross, 27, of Hagerstown. Police said Cross had an active arrest warrant in connection to the shooting. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault and "numerous weapons violations."

A couple of days after Cross's arrest, officers found the suspect in connection to the shooting on Nov. 15 in the 400 block of Jonathan St.
Police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Anthonio Jefferson, of Ft. Pierce, Fla. Officers also said he had cocaine at the time of his arrest.
Authorities charged Jefferson with possession with intent to distribute; however, charges for the shooting are still pending.
Police said that investigators do not believe the shootings are connected; however, both suspects are known to the 26-year-old.
