Man struck and killed by vehicle on Route 8 in Adams

ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) - A man was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing Route 8 in Adams on Sunday.
At around 5:12 p.m., officers were called to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Route 8 near the border of Adams and North Adams. The Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office says it appears the man parked his car and crossed the four-lane road to go to a restaurant.
Officer injured after struck by stolen car in Springfield
The victim died in the ambulance while on the way to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. His identity has not yet been released, pending family notification.
The DA's office states that the driver of the vehicle was not under the influence of alcohol. Members of Adams Police, Northern Berkshire EMS, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS), and the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office assisted.
