WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A non-profit organization that houses neglected farm animals in Westfield was gifted 11 acres from their neighbor. The Whip City Animal Sanctuary said William Reed of Westfield donated 11 acres of his abutting parcel of land. They plan to expand their operations by building another facility on the newly acquired land. Monson Savings Bank donates $1,500 to Whip City Animal Sanctuary The public is invited to join the sanctuary to present Reed with a plaque on Saturday at 11 a.m. They will also add a sign on the new property in his honor. “We’re all so grateful for this gift, the magnitude of its impact will be felt for generations to come,” said Kerry Plourde, co-founder of Whip City Animal Sanctuary. “The additional land will allow us to provide homes to many more animals in need.  We’re very excited to begin the next chapter of our journey.” The farm has several horses, pot belly pigs, Nigerian dwarf goats, the infamous steers Teddy and Ollie, and more. Whip City Animal Sanctuary is open to the public during select hours on 232 Montgomery Road in Westfield. Their next event is Hot Cocoa with Santa on Friday, December 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free, however donations are appreciated. For pictures with Santa, bring a non-perishable food donation to benefit the Westfield Food Pantry.
