Nov 18, 2024
NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Everyone has their vices and although Las Vegas, NV, has the reputation of being "Sin City," many other U.S. cities hold their own in being sinful. WalletHub recently ranked 182 spots in the country that are no strangers to illicit activity.
Both Albuquerque and Las Cruces made the list (No. 84 and 129, respectively). Each location was ranked on factors adding up to their Anger & Hatred, Jealousy, Excesses and Vices, Greed, Lust, Vanity, and Laziness.

To make these determinations, WalletHub compared the cities across those dimensions using 37 relevant metrics, each with corresponding weights. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with 100 being the highest level of sinfulness. So if we're looking at "Anger & Hatred," things like hate-crime incidents and sex offenders per capita were looked at. For "Jealousy," rates of identity theft and fraud were put into consideration.

To calculate "Lust," WalletHub looked at the number of adult entertainment establishments per capita, Google searches indexed under "XXX Entertainment," and teen birth rate.
