SCITUATE, R.I. (WLNE) — Officials say two people were sent to the hospital after crews responded to a house fire on Cooke Drive Monday.
Crews were sent to a home for a report of smoke, and discovered a fire once companies arrived at the scene.
Firefighters entered the home and removed one victim who was trapped inside, according to Chief Keith Brown.
The other occupant of the home was found outside but in need of medical attention.
Both individuals were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The fire was successfully extinguished.
No word yet on the victims’ condition.
The Rhode Island State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
