KENNER, La. (WGNO) — A Kenner man has been convicted in the fatal shooting of another man outside of a convenience store in 2022.
The Office of District Attorney Paul Connick Jr. reported that a Jefferson Parish jury found 61-year-old Oswaldo Dacunha guilty of second-degree murder on Monday, Nov. 18.
Court documents state that 43-year-old Alejandro Quiroz and another man were standing near a business at the intersection of Loyola and Clemson drives around 4 a.m. on Sept. 3, 2022, when Dacunha reportedly shot Quiroz three times.

According to investigators, surveillance video showed that Dacunha bought beer and beef jerky from the store with a debit card and drank a beer with Quiroz before leaving on a motorcycle and coming back on a bicycle about two hours later.
Court documents state that Dacunha stopped behind a trash can behind the store and took out a gun and put it in his waistband before walking up to Quiroz and shooting him. He then reportedly left the scene on the bike.

Quiroz was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Investigators said they were able to identify Dacunha as the shooter after analyzing security camera images from surveillance video, receiving tips and comparing a previous booking photo.
On Sept. 9, 2022, court documents state that police arrested Dacunha in Vinton, Louisiana. Investigators said that a debit card found in Dacunha's pocket was the same debit card used at the convenience store where Quiroz was fatally shot.
Court documents state that a beer bottle collected at the scene also contained Dacunha's DNA.
