Man Captured in Oklahoma for 1969 Nebraska Murder Case

Lincoln Police cruiser. (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)WAHOO–(KFOR Nov. 18)–An arrest has been made in Oklahoma in connection to a Nebraska homicide from 55 years ago.
Saunders County Attorney Jennifer Joakim said in a release to KFOR News on Monday that 77-year-old Joseph Ambroz was arrested in Ponca City, Oklahoma by members of the U.S. Marshals Service for one count of first-degree murder in the 1969 murder of 17-year-old Mary Kay Heese.
Joakim said the warrant was issued last week after a Saunders County Grand Jury indicted Mr. Ambroz for the death of Heese, who was reported missing March 25, 1969 and was found early the next morning in a roadside ditch south of Wahoo.
Joakim says Ambroz will appear in court in Oklahoma and the within the next few days, proceedings will start in extraditing him back to Nebraska.
