Tyrone Garner not seeking reelection for KCK mayor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One familiar name will not be on the ballot in Wyandotte County next year.
Kansas City, Kansas Mayor Tyrone Garner confirms with FOX4's John Holt that he is not running for reelection in 2025.
He will finish serving his term in December of next year.
As for the next mayor, there will be a primary ahead of a general election on Nov. 4, 2025.
Garner is the 31st mayor of KCK and fifth mayor/CEO since the Unified Government was formed in 1997.

He was elected on Nov. 2, 2021, after defeating former Mayor/CEO David Alvey.
