WESTFIELD, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in Wisconsin used thermal imaging from a drone to locate an armed suspect attempting to evade arrest on Saturday. According to a release, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident in the town of Westfield on Nov. 16, 2024, involving an armed suspect. With limited visibility and growing concern for public safety, the sheriff’s office deployed a drone equipped with thermal imaging technology to assist in the search. At around 7:45 p.m., the drone team located the suspect in a ditch using thermal imaging to detect the individual’s heat signature. The suspect, still armed, was located thanks to real-time data from the drone. Deputies were directed to the location and safely took the individual into custody without further incident. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it remains committed to utilizing cutting-edge technology to ensure community safety.
