FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control (FWACC) is asking the public for information after receiving two injured cats that required amputations. According to FWACC, one cat was found in the 2500 block of Winch Street, and the other cat was located in the 3400 block of Central Drive. Both were found "hurt and bleeding" by concerned citizens. After performing tests, FWACC staff learned the injuries were caused by bullets that likely came from something similar to a pellet gun. The injuries required amputation, according to FWACC. One of the two cats, named Muffin, recovers after surgery that required amputation. (Photo provided by FWACC) An x-ray of one of the two cats (no name) that shows a fracture of one of its legs. (Photo provided by FWACC) "As a reminder to all, there are many humane alternatives for dealing with unwanted animals who may show up on your property," said FWACC Director Amy-Jo Sites. "That's why our department exists. Let us provide you with safer options." FWACC is asking anyone with knowledge on what happened to the cats to contact the animal shelter at 260-427-1244 (Option 1).
