EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Seven IDEA schools in the El Paso area have been ranked the best in the state, according to U.S. News and World Report 2025 Best Elementary and Middle School ranking and the school district. Within the state of Texas, IDEA Edgemere, IDEA Mesquite Hills, and IDEA Mesa Hills College Preparatory schools are considered in the top 10 percent of middle schools. U.S. News and World Report analyzes more than 79,000 public elementary and middle schools across the nation. All IDEA El Paso elementary and middle schools were included in the rankings:  Within the top 10 percent of best Texas middle schools: IDEA Edgemere College Preparatory  IDEA Mesquite Hills College Preparatory   IDEA Mesa Hills College Preparatory  Within the top 15 percent of best Texas charter middle schools: IDEA Edgemere College Preparatory – 12%  IDEA Mesquite Hills College Preparatory – 13%  IDEA Mesa Hills College Preparatory – 14%  Within the top 25 percent of best Texas charter elementary schools: IDEA Edgemere Academy – 13%  IDEA Rio Vista Academy – 21%  IDEA Mesa Hills Academy – 25%   Other elementary schools that made the list: IDEA Horizon Vista Academy  "The methodology for the rankings focused on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in mathematics and reading/language arts while accounting for student backgrounds, achievement in core subjects, and how well schools are educating their students," the school district said.
