COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) - The University of South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after putting up career numbers in the Gamecocks' 34-30 win over Missouri.
The redshirt freshman completed 21 of 30 passes for a career-high 353 yards and five touchdowns to also earn Manning Award's "Stars of the Week" and the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 for week 12. Sellers added 45 rushing yards to end the night with a career-best 398 yards of total offense.
The Florence native led the Gamecocks to a game-winning, 70 yard touchdown drive with just 47 seconds left in the game to claim another top 25 win and improve to 5-3 in the SEC.
For the first time in school history, South Carolina has wins over three nationally-ranked teams in consecutive weeks. Sellers has had at least a share of the Player of the Week title all three weeks.
Sellers joins Spencer Rattler, Tommy Suggs, Jeff Grantz, Steve Taneyhill, Syvelle Newton, Dylan Thompson and Jake Bentley as Gamecock quarterbacks with five or more touchdown passes in a game.
No. 19 South Carolina will host Wofford (5-6, 3-5 SoCon) Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
