BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — University Laboratory School was forced to forfeit the second round of the LHSAA Division II Select playoffs after a judge's recent ruling.
According to the LHSAA, Louisiana judge Ronald Johnson, ruled in favor of the state's high school athletic association's decision to require U-High to forfeit their previous wins due to ineligible players.
The U-High Cubs record went from 8-2 to 1-9, disqualifying them from the state playoffs.
LSU Laboratory School filed a petition against the LHSAA on Nov. 8.
According to the Division II Select playoff bracket, the Cubs have forfeited their regional matchup against Booker T. Washington High School. The matchup was scheduled for Friday, Nov. 22 in Baton Rouge. The No. 18 Booker T. Washington Lions advance to the quarterfinals.
The LHSAA said they are "disappointed the violation occurred and even more disappointed that the violation affected student-athletes in this state."
University Laboratory School Director Kevin George released a statement after the judge's decision on Monday.
