ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – A man has pleaded not guilty Monday morning following a January crash that killed a retired Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy and injured three others in Walworth.
On January 2, prosecutors say 18-year-old Evan Haggett ran through a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 441 and Canandaigua Road crashing into another vehicle.
Haggett faces four traffic-related offenses, two counts of Failure to Yield, Improper Restraint of someone aged 7 to 15-years-old, and driving without a license.

62-year-old and retired MCSO deputy Tommy Doherty was killed. His girlfriend, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash, survived.
The Wayne County District Attorney previously told News 8 her office couldn't bring criminal charges under state law, and there was not enough evidence showing the driver was under the influence or using a phone at the time of the crash, but the State Police investigation remained open.
