WICHITA, Kan. (KSN)W - A head-on crash in southeast Kansas claimed the life of a 57-year-old Humboldt man. The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday on 800th Road, about a mile west of Humboldt. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Dodge Dakota was northbound on 800th Road, and a Ford Ranger was heading south. The Dakota started to spin and struck the Ranger head-on, causing the Ranger to catch fire. Wichita breaks a 114-year-old record for rainfall The driver of the Dakota, Eric L. Guenther, was taken to Allen County Regional Hospital, where he died. The driver of the Ranger, a 53-year-old Humboldt man, was taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The KHP report says both drivers were wearing seat belts.
