On Saturday morning officers found a Hyundai at a gas station on Boston Road that was reported stolen on November 14th. The car was running and had four people inside as police attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver allegedly put the vehicle in reverse which caused the officer to be struck in the arm and nearly hit two additional officers, Springfield Police Spokesman Ryan Walsh said.
The driver then took off by going over the curb and crashed in the area of the 400 block of Berkshire Ave. The occupants ran away into the woods however, officers found the alleged driver, a 16-year-old boy, and he was arrested. Due to his age, Springfield police did not release the suspect's name or charges.
