ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — A suspect has been arrested in the investigation of multiple brush fires throughout the city on November 12, according to Attleboro police. Gerard Genest, 72, of South Attleboro was arrested on November 16 at after a warrant was issued for his arrest related to the suspicious fires. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop without incident. Attleboro Fire Department personnel investigating brush fires at the Attleboro Elks Lodge at 887 South Main Street, the Manchester Reservoir on Beagle Club Road, the Attleboro Wastewater Department at 27 Pond Street North and Attleboro Animal Shelter at 102 Pond Street North determined that fires were intentionally set. Video surveillance obtained by Attleboro police detectives aided in the investigation and ultimate arrest of Genest. Genest will be arraigned at Attleboro District Court on November 18.
