ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Attleboro police have arrested a 72-year-old man accused of intentionally setting brush fires last week. Gerard Genest allegedly started several fires last Tuesday — one on South Main Street, one on Beagle Club Road, and two on Pond Street. Police say collecting video surveillance footage helped make the arrest. Investigators believe he may have been involved in additional brush fires, including one set at the La Salette Shrine on Saturday. Genest pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday morning. His bail was set at $1,000 with home confinement and GPS monitoring. He's due back in court on Dec. 5. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Breaking News SIGN UP NOW
