SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) — Two people were rushed to the hospital Monday morning after a fire broke out inside a Scituate home.
Crews were called to Cooke Drive just before 10 a.m. for reports of smoke coming from the home and someone possibly trapped inside.
Firefighters were able to remove one person from the home, while a second person got out on their own. Both were taken to the hospital.
The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
Hope & Jackson Fire Department Assistant Chief John Chevalier said it appeared the two victims tried to extinguish the fire on their own.
"Don't burn outdoor fires because some of us were out at another location in town finishing extinguishing a large brush fire from last night," Chevalier added.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
