VSP: 1 dead, 1 seriously hurt after twovehicle crash near Lee Hall

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia State Police responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash on I-64 early Monday morning.
Police said around 3 a.m., the driver of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, later identified as 22-year-old Denzel Owuraku Quaicoo, was traveling westbound when he ran off the road and struck a 2023 International tractor-trailer that was stopped on the shoulder.
Quaicoo was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, who was entrapped inside the vehicle, was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), all west lanes on I-64 near Lee Hall were closed for several hours as a result of the crash. All lanes have since reopened.
